Welcome!!

by Charles Laux on April 21, 2012

Welcome to the Kennesaw State University String Project website!

The KSU String Project is a new initiative sponsored by the KSU School of Music.  It provides an opportunity for incoming 4th and 5th grade students (as of the 2012-2013 academic year) to receive instruction on the violin, viola, cello, or double bass. In addition, a string project provides undergraduate music education students the opportunity to gain valuable hands on teaching experience under the supervision of a master teacher and their university supervisor.

If your child would like to learn a stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello, or string bass), we urge you to take advantage of this excellent opportunity!  This program is intended for beginning students only, so no prior experience is necessary!  In class we will teach students everything they need to know about playing their instrument, including care, music reading, and making a beautiful sound!

The string project will meet once each week, on Sundays from 1-3 PM at the KSU School of Music.  A very important organizational meeting will be held at 1PM on on Sunday, August 19. This meeting will feature a demonstration of each of the stringed instruments, information regarding acquiring an instrument, an instrument fitting session, and more.  Please mark your calendars!

Registration will begin soon and all registrations will take place via an online registration system through this website.  The cost is just $95 per semester.  Each semester will consist of approximately 12 two-hour sessions.

If you would like to be added to our mailing list, please follow this link.  We will never share your email address or  other information.  You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter.

We hope that you will explore our website to learn more about the KSU String Project! As the program grows, the website will fill with exciting photos and video to show off the students’ progress! Please contact us should  you have any questions or concerns!  We look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,
