About the Kennesaw State University String Project

The Kennesaw State University String Project is a program for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students to receive group instruction on the violin, viola, cello, or double bass.

If your child would like to learn to play a stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello, or string bass), we urge you to take advantage of this excellent opportunity!  The program is intended for beginning students, so no prior experience is necessary. Students will learn instrument technique, ear training, orchestral ensemble skills, and will gain the ability to read music.

We will be starting a new beginning-level class at Pitner starting this January! The class will meet on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:45 PM at Pitner Elementary School. Students will need to obtain their own instrument through a music store rental program (Please do not purchase an instrument without consulting us.) Classes will meet approximately 14 times each semester the year and follow a Cobb/KSU academic calendar.  At the end of each semester, students perform a concert on stage at the KSU School of Music!

The tuition is just $50 per semester!  This equates to a mere $2.85 per instructional hour.  Compared to the $20-40 hourly rate of traditional music lessons, we are an incredible value.
