Fall Concert Details

by Charles Laux on November 17, 2015

Our Fall Concert is only 3 weeks away and we are extremely excited! Please read this message carefully as there are lots of details about the big event.

Practice, Practice, Practice!

Students should be making preparations for the concert by practicing extra hard these next few weeks.  This should be easier to do with the upcoming Thanksgiving break. Students should aim to practice daily for 10-15 minutes!

To facilitate home practice, audio accompaniments for each of the concert songs have been posted to the String Project website. http://www.kennesawstringproject.org/members-only/ Or go to the website home page and click “For students.”

A Thanksgiving “Living Room Concert” sounds like a GREAT idea!! Have students show off what they’ve learned to family and friends!

Fall Concert

Our concert will be Tuesday, December 8 at 7:00 PM in the Bailey Performance Center at KSU.  Students should arrive at 6:15 to be tuned and seated.  The concert will begin with special guest performers – the Kell High School Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Kelly Thomas. This performance will be followed by our wonderful string project students!  The entire concert should last about an hour.  The concert is free and open to the public, so bring your whole family.

Video Taping

To reduce distractions and enhance the enjoyment of the concert by all audience members, we ask that you refrain from video taping the performance.  If you must record, please sit in the seats on the sides of the hall.  We will also be posting a bunch of photos on this website and a video recording of our concert on our YouTube channel.

Directions and maps to the Bailey Performance Center with parking information can be found here.

Concert Attire

There is no specific uniform for our concerts, however students should dress up and look their best.  We want to look as good as we will sound! The following are some examples of dressy attire:

Boys: Dress slacks with button down long sleeve shirt, optional tie.  Please try to avoid sneakers.

Girls:  A long, floor-length dress or dress/skirt with tights.  Slacks and a blouse also work. * Cellists should keep in mind that it may be impossible to play the instrument with a short dress, so a long, floor length dress or slacks are recommended.

To help offset our costs, we will be accepting monetary donations at the concert. Please consider a tax-deductible donation to the String Project.  Your gift will help us keep tuition prices low and provide reduced cost services for students in need. We will accept cash or checks made payable to KSU.
