Important Announcement

by Charles Laux on May 23, 2016

Dear String Project Parents and Friends,

I wanted to give you an update to the status of the KSU String Project for next year because I have been receiving questions about registration and the class schedule for the fall.

String Project classes will remain on Tuesday afternoons and exact class times will be announced soon.  The Marietta (MCAA) and Pitner ES sites will remain, as will the two Reach for the Stars sites located at Baker ES and Acworth ES.

In addition, I wanted to announce that I have resigned from my position as professor at KSU and director of the KSU String Project. This fall I will be returning to the school orchestra classroom as the new orchestra director at Alpharetta High School.

I assure you that the KSU String Project will continue as it has in the past. The director of the KSU School of Music, Dr. Stephen Plate, has assured me that continuing the String Project is an extremely high priority. He understands the tremendous value of the String Project for both the community students and the future KSU string music educators.

KSU is currently conducting a national search for an interim professor to fill my position and a portion of that person’s duties will be to oversee the KSU String Project. In addition, Ms. Susan Brown, our master teacher, has agreed to continue and will serve as a supervisor for the various sites, assisting the KSU teachers with lesson planning, teaching strategies, and feedback..

If you have not done so, please sign up to the KSU String Project Email List so that you will receive important news and updates as they are released.

It has been an honor to serve as the founding director of the KSU String Project. I am extremely proud of the program’s growth and impact on the community and the KSU music education students. I would like to thank all of you for your continued encouragement and support.

Most Sincerely,

Charles Laux
